Wisdom Worker Solutions and other local organizations sponsored the Silver Economy Leadership Summit on Tuesday, March 11, 2008 in Des Moines, Iowa. The Summit brought together political, business and civic leaders to discuss the challenges of leading a multi-generational and aging workforce.
Iowa Governor Chet Culver opened the Summit by expressing support for the collaboration represented by the spectrum of participants and how important such events can be for solving the challenges that Iowa faces. The keynote presentation from Dr. Mary Furlong focused on how to leverage the value Baby Boomers will continue to offer by Turning Silver Into Gold. A panel of CEOs from a variety of industries offered keen insights and potential solutions to the impending retirement of 78 million Baby Boomers over the next 10 years. Iowa Workforce Development presented the very real side of the coming workforce changes, kicking off facilitated small group working sessions. The results of these work sessions will be posted on our website soon and Summit attendees may view them free of charge.
